Happy Valentine’s weekend! It’s our favorite time of the year here at LAURA ANN! At LAURA ANN we believe that landmark spaces shape our experiences and inspire our relationships, from the everyday to the special days. This Valentine’s Day we celebrate the sweethearts who found love on university campuses as we launch the LAURA ANN Ivy Campus & Chapel Invitations Collection! As my friends and followers know, I met, got engaged, and married my college love at our alma mater, Princeton University. Not surprisingly, the LAURA ANN Ivy Campus & Chapel series began with our own wedding invitations and stationery before expanding to other alums. Like Facebook back in 2004, today the series expands from one school to the Ivy League, and the door is certainly open to expand to other chapels and universities in the future by popular demand!
The watercolor and ink illustrated wedding invitations feature the six Ivy League Chapels listed in the Huffington Post’s February 2014 article of “America’s Most Beautiful College Chapels,” five of which were also featured in The Knot’s list of “25 Insanely Beautiful College Chapels” – Princeton University Chapel, Battell Chapel at Yale, Sage Chapel at Cornell, St. Paul’s Chapel at Columbia, Rollins Chapel at Dartmouth, and Memorial Church at Harvard. Along with the six new chapel wedding invitation designs, LAURA ANN now offers six varieties of paper stock and six distinct styles of old world inspired hand calligraphy for customization.
The LAURA ANN Ivy Chapel Wedding Invitations feature watercolor and ink illustrated landmarks as custom envelope liners or surprise pieces of art in the form of the invitation insert. A “double doors” gothic style gatefold invitation opens to reveal a “walking down the aisle” perspective of the chapel interior, as well as a custom campus weekend map.
In addition to wedding invitations and thank you notes, LAURA ANN also offers coordinating “save-the-dates,” rehearsal dinner invitations, maps, welcome bag stickers, just married banners, escort and place cards, table numbers, menus, event signage, thank you notes, and custom stamps. View the Princeton Collection and Products page for a full sampling of related items, and the Custom Process page for how to make them your own.
Is one of our campus collections missing a landmark? Landmark artwork can be commissioned in its own right, or framed as a keepsake as a special bonus of the invitation process. Our specialty is watercolor and ink architectural scenes ranging from university campuses and chapels to historic landmarks, hotels, clubs, private homes, vineyards, ranches, gardens, and resorts.
LAURA ANN has been delighted to collaborate with Robb Greene and his exciting plant delivery business ePottingShed on an illustrated business postcard! We're in love with the Victorian charm, fresh and seasonal plant quality, sustainable packaging, and exquisite attention to detail that ePottingShed brings to every delivery, "blooming at your door." They are certainly starting a "floral revolution" and we were excited to be part of the business branding project. If you order an EPS plant, you or your loved one will receive one of these postcards along with a lovely potted plant that I can assure you will last longer than the week lifespan of your usual flower order. Check them out this Valentine's Day!
Hau' oli Makahiki Hou! That's the Hawaiian greeting for Happy New Year! LAURA ANN was pleased to design this custom illustrated postcard for Honokohau Properties on the Big Island in Hawaii, which our client tied to bags of trail mix as holiday gift. LAURA ANN delights in working with clients on custom business illustrations and related business branded collateral to help them achieve their goals!
Happy New Year from LAURA ANN! We hope you are enjoying a restful holiday with family and friends and gearing up for a great new year ahead. We appreciate the support of friends old and new as LAURA ANN has revved up its illustration and invitations operations this year. It's been an exciting year, from our social media launch in New York in May during NYCxDESIGN, to a focus on landmark art and universities with our first retailer at the Princeton Ustore and the launch of the Princeton Invitation Collection, to the Kappa national design competition selection, to a feature in New York Weddings Magazine, and a cross-country move to San Francisco. We are energized and optimistic for what the new year has in store.
We're still celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas around here, so as a little gift, here is a sneak preview leading into 2015 - LAURA ANN is excited to launch the Ivy League Chapels Collection! Starting with my own Princeton University Chapel wedding invitation suite in 2012, the collection has expanded to include the university chapels of Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Cornell for wedding invitations and beyond. Stay tuned for the full launch in 2015 - Happy New Year!

As the LAURA ANN Princeton University Campus Collection of illustrated invitations and stationery launches today, LAURA ANN founder Laura Elbogen looks back on her own nuptials on the Princeton University campus in June 2012. Laura and Brian wanted to capture through their stationery the beauty of their beloved alma mater, where they had met, become engaged, and were to be married in the campus chapel. Laura had already designed a number of wedding invitation suites for friends, and when it came to her own wedding she couldn't find quite what she was looking for - a fully illustrated stationery suite that would excite their guests and capture the anticipation of the event through the location's beautiful landmarks. Hence, with the Princeton University Chapel Collection, LAURA ANN came to life as it is known today with watercolor landmark art and custom destination invitations. As the collection expands this fall into the full Princeton University Campus Collection, we look back today at the memorable moments of Laura and Brian's wedding, and the corresponding landmark stationery!
The Nassau Hall, Nassau Hall tigers, and FitzRandolph gates landmark illustrations have rounded out the Princeton University Campus Collection, designed for another alumni wedding in 2014. However, they were part of the classic wedding photo opps around the beautiful Princeton campus at Laura and Brian's wedding in 2012.
Happy Homecoming, Princeton! Today LAURA ANN is thrilled to release the watercolor illustrated Princeton University Campus Collection of invitations and stationery, which began as the Princeton Chapel Collection in 2012 and has expanded in fall 2014 to include key campus landmarks. The landmark art stationery suite includes campus favorites, from Nassau Hall and its tiger sculptures, to FitzRandolph Gate, Prospect House, the Princeton University Chapel, and abundant ivy and arches.
Artist, designer, and entrepreneur Laura Elbogen met, got engaged, and married her college sweetheart at their alma mater, Princeton University. Not surprisingly, the LAURA ANN Chapels and Universities painting and stationery series began with their own wedding invitations and stationery! Laura has always been inspired by architecture. She believes that landmark spaces shape our experiences and inspire our relationships, from the everyday to the special days.
By incorporating LAURA ANN landmark art into stationery and invitations, the host extends a personal touch of hospitality from the get-go, sharing the excitement and giving a glimpse of the destination to come. With a framed LAURA ANN original painting or print as a keepsake, the memory lives long beyond the shelf life of the invitation.
Is the LAURA ANN Princeton University Campus Collection missing a landmark? Perhaps the eating club where you had your first date, the old wooden desks where you first bumped into each other in McCosh, or the arch where you had your first kiss? We’re always delighted to take on special commissions. From the paper color and texture, to border colors, hand calligraphy style, and selection of campus art, the collection is intended to be custom tailored to every event!
LAURA ANN has moved! While we continue to serve clients in New York City and around the world, our headquarters has moved to San Francisco! San Francisco is a vibrant artistic city known for its landmarks old and new, and we are excited to add locales of the Bay Area to our collection of illustrated destinations. From the bridges and wineries to the prevalent bay window architecture, there are a myriad of iconic places to celebrate through illustrated landmark art and invitations.
The LAURA ANN headquarters is enjoying pumpkin spice latte season, and is already thinking ahead to peppermint mochas...have you thought about your holiday and new years greeting? Now is the time! We take on a limited number of custom house and business illustration commissions for the holidays which make for great personal cards and postcards, or gifts! Whether for yourself or a friend, the original art is yours to keep and frame! Order stationery with the art, or you can even send the final design as a digital greeting if you prefer!
Here is a look back at past LAURA ANN house and business portraits in watercolor and ink.
October is Archtober! This month the fourth annual Archtober (ärk’tōbər), Architecture and Design Month in New York City brings scintilating programs, lectures, films, and tours to designer lovers and the general public! Organized by the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter / Center for Architecture, the festival brings together 50 participating institutions on a common calendar featuring architecture and design events taking place all over the city. The jewel of the program is the "Building of the Day," where each day at a different site architects lead the public on tours of their own buildings. LAURA ANN Founder Laura Elbogen has been personally involved with organization of the festival from the start, and loves touring landmarks old and new for inspiration. A number of the buildings in her original "Historic Landmarks New York" watercolor illustration series have been on the tour schedule through the years. All tours are covered on the Archtober Blog, spearheaded by Archtober Festival Director Cynthia Kracauer, which is a great place to learn about both the history and new design developments at these celebrated New York City buildings.
For more information and the full schedule of Archtober 2014 events, visit www.archtober.org.
LAURA ANN is delighted to be highlighted as one of the featured vendors for the beautiful Tribeca nuptials of Adam and Marianne! We enjoyed designing custom illustrated stationery from the programs, menus, and table cards, to the escort card and thank you cards. We love how the calligraphy initials and heart made it onto the artful cake by Audrey's Fine Baked Goods. The handsome couple and all of the details were wonderfully captured by Ilene Squires Photography.
Remember the LAURA ANN Manhattan Love custom stationery suite for Adam and Marianne's March 2014 nuptials at Tribeca Loft? (See LAURA ANN's March 21, 2014 post) New York is spreading the love...introducing Oklahoma Love. This personalized greeting card was a custom order for a graceful woman who is proud of her state and full of love for all. Know anyone in another city, state, or country who has a heart full of love for their community? Contact LAURA ANN with custom personal stationery inquiries and orders.
My dear friend and bridesmaid Amie is expecting her first child in October, a baby girl, and I can't wait to greet her! Amie has always loved ladybugs and the color red, so it was a no-brainer as a theme to surprise her with some gifts and decor at our upcoming dinner. I designed custom place cards, thank you notes and a banner with a hand-painted ladybug in red goache and black ink. I found ladybug sleepers, a ladybug Skip Hop lunch bag (great for bottles too), and red and white polka dot tissue wrapping, napkins, and ribbon to pull it all together. Our friend Christine found ladybug stickers and stirrers as the final touch. This little girl is going to be one lucky lady!
LAURA ANN is honored to be selected as the winner of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation's national design contest for the logo and branding of a new annual fundraising event. The "Kappa Croquet Soiree: Wickets in Wonderland" will take place September 20th at the Topiary Park in Columbus, Ohio, not far from Kappa national fraternity headquarters. The whimsical illustrated poster scene of the Topiary Park is actually art after art, as the park contains sculpted bushes and gardens landscaped to mimic Georges Seurat’s famous painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grand Jatte. For Kappa's "Wonderland" theme, Alice plays croquet in the park with a Kappa key rather than a pink flamingo.
As a member of the Zeta Phi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma during my college days at Princeton, I'm delighted to contribute to the cause with the design for this exciting new event. Kappa promotes women in friendship, leadership, service, and community involvement, and the Croquet Soiree will surely be a great new event for the Columbus community and the fraternity. Event proceeds benefit the local Topiary Park and the Snowden-Gray House, the Heritage Museum of Kappa Kappa Gamma which is dedicated to educating members and the public about the changing societal role of women in higher education. Attendees of the event are encouraged to wear Wonderland or Victorian style flourishes. Sounds like a ball - wish I could make it!
International flair was the name of the game for this Dutch couple who dated long distance between the Netherlands and New York before tying the knot. In this day in age their courtship remained strong via e-mail and Skype, but it was the airmail iconography more typical of the Pan Am era which brought their romance to life in their stationery suite. The tie between the two cities became all the more meaningful when the couple made their union official at City Hall in New York City, where the bride was living. After nearly a year together in the States, they returned home to Rotterdam where they hosted a ceremony and celebration with family and friends at the beautiful 'De Maas' yacht club. Aside from immediate family who knew of their marriage, they turned to traditional mail and a custom LAURA ANN designed airmail postcard to break the news. A digital save-the-date allowed them to notify many international guests of the date with ease. No doubt their time in NYC and the prolific "I heart NY" message inspired their heart themed personal logo. The red and blue patriotism shared by the Netherlands and US made for an obvious choice of wedding colors. Cheers to Lisa and Reinoud!
Happy Fourth of July! LAURA ANN enjoyed stationery styling a nautical themed summer baby shower at Beach Point Club in Mamaroneck, New York - an all American theme for an all American couple welcoming a baby boy! Watercolor anchors, sailboats, whales, and stars took the form of custom designed tags, banners, games, and thank you notes. Guests wrote messages to baby for his scrapbook tied to a "wishing tree," and at each table they could guess baby's arrival date and "stats." Sailboats abounded from baby's "ship's ahoy" cake to the sailboats on location through the view out the window, tying it all together for this joyful and festive celebration.
Congratulations to Austen and Bren on their June 14th nuptials in Hilton Head, South Carolina! LAURA ANN was honored to design a third custom illustrated wedding program in four years for three siblings all married in and around the beautiful Southern island town (recall Kathy and Ramsey's Hilton Head Collection and Logan and Pete's Orchid Collection themes). Austen and Bren chose hydrangeas, roses, and sand dollars to tie together the local feel and floral decor of their summer wedding. A New York City skyline represented their meeting place as well as their new home together.
I delight in taking part in the artful design and communication of wedding programs, as I found the ceremony to be the most intimate and meaningful part of my wedding planning. All the more special seeing it through with three siblings!
LAURA ANN was thrilled over the weekend to launch our first retail collaboration. The Yes! Collection "Tiger Spirit" cards in honor of Princeton Dean Fred Hargadon hit the shelves of the Princeton University Store just in time for Princeton Reunions. Thousands of alumni return to campus annually to reminisce and reconnect. This year alums remembered the late Dean Fred, known for his signature "Yes!" admissions letter, as well as his warm presence on campus as chief encourager and cheerleader. LAURA ANN launched the "Tiger Spirit" illustrated cards in his memory with 10% of profits to benefit The Class of 2007 Dean Fred Hargadon h07 Memorial Endowment Fund. The greeting cards are available for purchase exclusively through the Princeton University Store (purchase online here), or visit the shop on Nassau Street!
It's official! LAURA ANN has officially launched and we are thrilled to be open for custom illustration and stationery design business! Excited to see the news picked up in New York Business Journal, Buffalo Business First, Yahoo Finance, Market Watch, San Francisco Business Times, Reuters, and the Boston Globe.
